Why the April New Moon is called the New Flower Moon
This is one of the few New Moon Names that won’t come as a surprise. The May Full Moon follows the age-old saying “April showers bring May flowers”. In 2022 the new moon that begins the lunar cycle for the May full moon, will occur at the very end of April.
Each year depending on when the May Full Moon occurs, the New Flower Moon will occur in either late April to Mid-May.
Which season includes the New Flower Moon?
Depending on the year, the New Flower Moon will be either the first or second new moon of the spring season. It won’t be a seasonal black moon because it occurs earlier in the season.
