Why the July New Moon is called the New Sturgeon Moon
In 2022 the new moon that begins the lunar cycle for the August full moon, called the Full Sturgeon Moon, will occur at the very end of July. This is one of the few New Moon Names not easily guessed. Like other moon names inspired by nature, sturgeon are caught in high numbers in North America’s Great Lakes.
Each year depending on when the August Full Moon occurs, the New Sturgeon Moon will occur in either late July to Mid-August.
Which season includes the New Sturgeon Moon?
